Marco's Journey

LEARNING ABOUT FOOD

The story of La Pizzica begins in Calabria, in the coastal town of Diamante, a place rich in tradition and deeply rooted in southern Italian culture. It is where I spent my childhood, wandering local markets and farms, and my summers out at sea on fishing boats.

Evenings were sacred. Gathered around the table with family and friends, we shared recipes, stories, and the very best local ingredients. It was here that my love for Italian food was born - not as a craft, but as a way of life.

Calabria, Italy

WHERE TRADITION RUNS DEEP

Calabria sits at the tip of Southern Italy, a region steeped in centuries of culinary heritage and Mediterranean culture. The coastal town of Diamante, with its vibrant markets and fishing traditions, shaped my understanding of what truly authentic food means.

Here, food is more than sustenance - it is a celebration of community, family, and respect for ingredients. This philosophy continues to guide every pizza we make at La Pizzica.

PASSING DOWN TRADITION

When I met my wife Autumn, everything changed. I knew then that Cambridge would become my home forever. Together, we now have four beautiful children: Romeo, Fiorello, Ivy, and our youngest, Amedeo.

After years of talking, dreaming, and planning, we brought La Pizzica to life - our little piece of Italy here in Eddington.

We love creating a warm, family-friendly atmosphere, and our goal is simple: to make every visit feel like coming into our home for a meal. Our values, rooted in Calabrian tradition, guide everything we do - from sourcing ingredients to welcoming every guest.

Why “La Pizzica”?

DANCING WITH THE COMMUNITY

The word Pizzica refers to a traditional Southern Italian folk dance, often associated with the Tarantella. It is a dance performed in a circle - the ronda - where, according to tradition, the community comes together.

These dances are about unity, joy, and connection - bringing people together in celebration, music, and movement.

We chose this name because it reflects exactly what we believe in: bringing people together through authentic food and creating moments of warmth, joy, and togetherness.

We can’t wait to join you in the dance.
